Young blood in boys’ lacrosse
Members of ARHS boys’ lacrosse admit they are a young team lacking the experience to compete against schools with more skill and experience.
However, they said this offers a chance for the fresh faces to step up.
Sophomores Declan Gray-Mullen and Willy Wright have both earned a starting position on the varsity team as attack.
So far this season, Wright has scored four goals and two assists while Gray-Mullen has had seven goals and one assist.
Captain Aidan Bass hopes to beat both Northampton and South Hadley this season.
“They are beatable, but they are pretty good,” Bass said.
Bass is not the only one with goals for the team; junior Daniel Lyra has a few of his own.
“[We want to] mature as a team and to build team chemistry,” said Lyra. “ We have a young team and a lot to do. We have to improve and work together.”
Matt Crutch, the head coach, is also pushing for his players to work together in the hopes that their unity will improve.
The Amherst lacrosse team record was is 1-6 as of April 25.
The team hopes to change that record into a winning season by the end.
