For many years, ARHS hosted an International Dinner the week before Thanksgiving to celebrate the cultures of students from the school community and to create connections. However, the dinner eventually stopped happening after the ELL teachers who organized it retired, and the pandemic shut down in-person school and club activities.

However, this year, the International Dinner returned and was held in the ARHS cafeteria on November 19, 2025.

The event was a potluck that was well-received and enjoyable for everyone in attendance. According to Janaki Ewoton, POCU Co-President, she and other clubs wanted to bring back a tradition that “can help strengthen us as a community and give each other insight on our different cultures and backgrounds,” she said.

The idea to bring the dinner originated from leaders of both POCU and Latinos Unidos. Shortly after coming up with the idea, they realized different cultural clubs from the school could also participate.

In the end, five clubs were in attendance: People of Color United (POCU), Latinos Unidos, Chinese Culture Club (CCC), French Club, and Schools for Africa. People brought delicious foods from their cultures and enjoyed eating together.

Ewoton said a majority of the members of POCU attended, as well as many members of the other clubs, teachers, parents, and students from the ARHS community.

“The goal was to continue a tradition that was once held at ARHS in past years, and bring it back,” said Ewoton.

Cheyenne McKethan, a member of POCU, was also in attendance as one of the performers. She is the social media manager for her club. “The event was enjoyable for everyone,” she noted.

McKethan also loved being able to perform as a senior. “I was happy to get such a fun combined experience with everyone together,” she said.
